Press Release of June 26, 2014

North Plainfield Police Chief William Parenti is pleased to announce that the Borough’s STEP, (Summer Teen Evening Program), began on Tuesday, June 24, at the North Plainfield Middle School gymnasium at 34 Wilson Avenue.   The program will run from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. On Tuesdays and Thursdays till August 14. The program allows borough youth to gather in a safe and secure environment for pickup basketball games, and conversation; refreshments are also provided. Funding for the program is provided by the Municipal Alliance and the Youth Services Commission.  Volunteers and personnel from the Board of Education and the Police Department are always present. This year will be the program’s 15th year in operation and is a huge success.  “We usually have between 50 and 60, it’s a great example of community organizations and the Borough’s youth coming together”, Chief Parenti said. The program culminates on the last night, August 14, which will be a barbecue style picnic.  All borough teens are welcome to attend.
