County Offering Free Flu Shots to Adult Residents
Feb. 18 from 3 – 6 p.m. in Somerville
SOMERVILLE - The Somerset County Department of Health wants residents to know that flu activity is high and widespread and that it’s not too late to protect yourself and those around you from getting the flu this season.
A free flu shot clinic for adults age 18 and over, sponsored by the county health department, will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the first floor conference room of the Somerset County Human Services Building , located at 27 Warren St. , Somerville , NJ 08876 . Residents from all 21 municipalities in Somerset County may take advantage of this clinic.
Flu activity is widespread in most of the country and high flu activity is likely to continue for several more weeks. If you have not gotten a flu vaccine this season, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends you should get one now.
The flu is a contagious disease that affects the lungs and can lead to serious illness, including pneumonia. Even healthy people can get sick enough to miss work or school for a significant period of time, or be hospitalized. People at high risk of serious flu illness should call a health care provider if they have flu symptoms.
