North Plainfield Police Department Press Release Chief William Parenti November 10, 2009 Police Chief William G. Parenti announced on November 9,2009 the North Plainfield Police Department was Re-accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA.). Chief Parenti and Lieutenant Joe Mack provided testimony to the Commission at a hearing held at the Princeton Municipal building to determine if the Department was in compliance and should maintain their Accredited status. After a review of the report written by the onsite assessors, listening to the testimony, the commission voted unanimously in favor. We are very proud of our Police Department. The recognition we received is a badge that further demonstrates our dedication to professional excellence and priorities Chief Parenti said. To receive accreditation, the North Plainfield Police Department was required to comply with 112 standards set forth by the Commission. These standards touch on every facet of the Department from racial profiling, administrative, and operational services to promotions, use of force and pursuits. “By voluntarily meeting these standards, the North Plainfield Police Department has shown itself willing to be held to a higher degree of professionalism, building trust between the Department and the people it serves”, the Chief said. Chief Parenti thanked many people for making it possible for the Police Department to achieve accredited status. All the employees of the Police Department for seeing the value and complying with the standards; Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest for his unwavering support of our Police Department; Mayor Michael Giordano Jr. the Borough Council and all community members who are such an essential piece of our public safety puzzle. |
