North Plainfield Police Chief William Parenti and Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest announced that a Middlesex borough resident suffered serious injuries in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 22 East and Mountain Avenue in North Plainfield shortly after 7:00 am on Friday morning, August 7. 

Chief Parenti indicated that police units responding to a report of an accident at the intersection of Route 22 East and Mountain Avenue; an intersection that is controlled by multiple traffic signals; found that a passenger car and a motorcycle had became involved in an accident.   

Police determined the car was operated by Octavian Anghel, 56 years of age, of Vancouver, Washington.   The motorcyclist, Marvin Oakerson Jr., 30 years of age, of Middlesex, was treated by the North Plainfield Fire Department and Mercy Six paramedics from JFK Medical Center.  Ultimately, Oakerson was transported by the New Jersey State Police North Star medevac air ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was admitted for trauma.  

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team responded and conducted the investigation with the North Plainfield Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.  Octavian Anghel was issued a motor vehicle summons for an improper turn.  The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.
