North Plainfield Police Department Chief William Parenti Press Release: November 28, 2009 Chief William G. Parenti said At 2:14 AM on November 28, 2009 the North Plainfield Police Department was called to respond to the Howard Johnsons on the report of a man with a gun. Members of the North Plainfield Police arrived as a man was attempting to leave the Howards Johnson parking lot in a 2005 black Mercedes. Police blocked in the suspects’ car and detained him long enough to speak with victims and witnesses. According to witnesses the suspect 22 year old Raymond Wilkinson Jr of North Plainfield, pointed a gun at the head of a victim 18 year old Trevor Smith of Scotch Plans and at his other friends and demanded money. The suspect then went to room 113 where he pointed a revolver at a second victim 19 year old Kalasi Huggins of Plainfield and demanded money. The suspect then fled down the hallway and was stopped by police near the entrance to Howard Johnsons. The victims identified the suspect and a pellet gun was recovered from the vehicle. The suspect was charged with three counts of 1st degree armed robbery and lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending the setting of bail.
