Motor Vehicle Fatal Crash

North Plainfield Police Chief William Parenti and Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest announced that a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle as she attempted to cross Route 22 at the intersection with North Drive just after 6:00 am Monday morning.  The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene through paramedics from Muhlenberg Hospital.   

The identity of the pedestrian has been established to be Alba Lucia Castro, 48 years of age of North Plainfield.  The accident was investigated by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team and the North Plainfield Police Department.  According to a witness the pedestrian attempted to cross the highway against a red light.  The investigation is active and ongoing at this time.   

The motor vehicle was operated by Timothy McPleasant, 22 years of age, of Plainfield; he was on his way to work at the time of the accident.  At this time he has not been charged with any violations in connection with the accident.  Anyone with additional information about the accident, is urged to contact the North Plainfield Police Department at 908-769-2937 or the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Tip Line at 1-888-577-8477.
