Second Annual Bi-Lingual Health Fair

North Plainfield Police Department

Chief William G. Parenti

October 4, 2007

North Plainfield Police Chief William Parenti announced that the Community Oriented Policing Unit of the North Plainfield Police Department in conjunction with the North Plainfield Adult School and the Somerset County Health Department will be hosting their second annual Bi-Lingual Health Fair on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the North Plainfield Middle School gymnasium.  Over thirty exhibit booths are planned.  They include representatives from health care; financial services; education; community services; and area Churches.

Last year’s event drew over 500 attendees, this year’s event should be even more widely attended.  The vendors are from a variety of private, not-for-profit, and government agencies and their purpose is to provide information to the public, especially the Spanish speaking segment of the public.  There will also be refreshments, handouts, pamphlets, s and giveaways for the public.

The community policing unit in collaboration with the Adult School developed the event to reach out to the Spanish speaking members of the community.  One of the goals was to have all exhibiters present their material in Spanish as well as English.  The objective is to make the Spanish speaking community aware of all the services and products that are available to them.  There is no cost to attend and all are welcome.
