• COPYS OF POLICE REPORTS ARE AVAILABLE BY MAIL OR FAX WITH THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:  

1. ACCOMPANIED BY A NORTH PLAINFIELD R20;REQUEST FOR ACCESS TO POLICE DEPARTMENT RECORDS” FORM, Click here for a copy.
2. ACCOMPANIED BY A CHECK OR MONEY ORDER MADE PAYABLE TO THE "NORTH PLAINFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT" 
3. INCLUDE A SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE OR THE FAX NUMBER WHERE IT IS TO BE SENT.

• ADDITIONAL PAGES ARE $0.05 (5 cents) EACH

Handgun Permits and Identification Cards

If you wish to purchase a handgun, you first need to obtain a New Jersey Firearms I.D. Card. You can pick up instructions for obtaining a New Jersey Firearms I.D. Card in our Records Division at Police Head-Quarters during the above listed hours. These instructions will outline the steps you need to take and the fees involved with obtaining a New Jersey Firearms I.D. Card.

If you already possess a New Jersey Firearms I.D. Card and now wish to purchase a handgun, you will be given a separate packet with instructions for that procedure. In this packet you will also find the fees involved with obtaining a Permit to Purchase a handgun.

Upon receiving one of the above listed packets, take them home and review them carefully. Doing so will avoid you having to make additional trips to the Police Department.
